“Information opens all doors”

It’s a cool night in Requiem; the moon is full, and the usually unforgiving darkness of the woods becomes a touch gentler. The warmth of the Public Works campfire buzzes in your fingertips and strong hooch rests pleasantly on your tongue. What a good night to share news with your community around the fire -

Something catches your eye, a hazy shape through the lens of drink and exhaustion. It’s vaguely blue.

They’ve been listening.

Someone always knows something. Sometimes, someone knows everything. The Volkov Family works in the shadows as Requiem’s chief information brokers, or less charitably - spies. Founded by Seraphis Volkov, this family specializes in knowing the unknown, and using that wealth of information to broker deals and influence politics, all while doing their best to stay out of the limelight. If you seek knowledge… look for blue.

Key Individuals

Dusk Volkov - Current head of the Family

Seraphis Volkov - Founder of the Volkov Family

Organization

The Volkovs “on duty” can be identified by their blue robes and distinctive white masks. Their organizational structure is shrouded in mystery; like a hive-mind collective, the family walks in lockstep with each other, new operatives rising wherever they are needed and fading into shadow when their work is done. It’s often said that to speak to one Volkov is to speak to all of them. Will they tell you the truth? Or does verity come at a higher price?

History

The history of the Volkovs is not very well known - in fact, it may be one of their closest kept secrets. They appeared seemingly overnight in Requiem, clad in their 'Volkov Blues' and masks decorated with bright purple nightshade, led by a masked individual by the name of Seraphis Volkov. They might have simply always been there, unnoticed, gathering information from those in the Fold who many would otherwise ignore - the lowest classes, the drunks, the disgraced.

After the departure of Seraphis Volkov from the Fold in the Honors Fall of 24, the family continues on with their work virtually unchanged, largely owing to their structure. The Volkov will always continue their work in Requiem, no matter if their leader is presently known or not.
