As Dogs of War approaches, we’ve had two significant sets of action requests… first from people who wish to start the game captured and the second from people who want to fight against the town on the side of the enemy. Here’s some information if this applies to you.
Prisoners
Due to the significant number of requests to start the event as a prisoner of the Nostra, we will not require players to coordinate with us prior to the event to do so. If you wish to start play as a prisoner, all you need to do is join us for a special mod at game on. We’ll release details closer to the event. A couple of key notes:
Everyone playing as a prisoner will have the same experience; we have too many players to come up with custom mods for all of you.
If you’re on the first NPC shift, you will not be able to participate in the mod, but we encourage you to re-enter play having just “escaped.”
Sympathizers
Due to the political situation in Requiem, some players may wish to fight on the side of the enemy. This is allowed, but heed this warning: if you fight on the side of the enemy, you’re immediately flagged for CvC. You should expect that other players will try to kill your character and that there may be long-term repercussions. This is a “no holds barred” option: do not expect them to negotiate with you out-of-character, or that they’ll give you a “cool scene.” While we encourage all our players to use these practices and consider the feelings of all those involved, the significance of siding with the enemy means that you’re basically saying “come at me.” Do not expect the staff to try to mitigate the negative consequences of this decision. Further, expect there to be long-term consequences, even if deadly CvC doesn’t occur. If you choose to fight for the Nostra, other characters will almost certainly hold it against you after the war is over.
With that in mind, here are some key points if you want to fight against the forces of Requiem.
Spoiler: Your side is going to lose. At the end of the day, the Nostra will be beaten. This game is not a setting reset, so don’t be surprised when the majority of players win the battle.
You have to observe all CvC rules, most importantly, if you engage in CvC, you must remain in character for four hours afterwards.
Because of this, you can’t join an NPC shift as your character (as our NPCs regularly go out of character between mods).
That said, if you want to fight on behalf of the Nostra, you’re approved to do so. However, Lupa is a smart adversary, and players have been trying the “I’m going to infiltrate the other side as a double agent” since Dystopia Rising began. Because of this, she’s not going to give you special intel. Your best bet is to look for battles and then side with the NPCs.
